This year is supposed to be something of a special year for Apple because it will mark the completion of a major transformation that began in 2017. Apple's iPhone X marked the first full revision of the iPhone design since its original model was released in 2007. iPhones over the years had shared some important features in common until then, but the iPhone X was a completely different animal. It dropped the iconic home button to iPhone, it completely changed how users navigate in the interface, replaced stainless steel, and it introduced a controversial new feature that uses a person's face instead of a fingerprint to verify identity. The IPhone X was nothing short of a complete reminder of the Apple smartphone.
People are afraid of change and it may therefore be that Apple also launched two famous iPhone models along with its overtaken tenth anniversary iPhone. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus looked and worked just like iPhones that came in front of them and many have chosen to buy one of them instead of a new iPhone X. The price is undoubtedly a factor since iPhone X starts with a lot of $ 1
Although Apple's iPhone setup will be completely different in 2018 than it has been in previous years, the events that have happened in management until their disclosure are exactly the same. First of all, some rumors begin to narrow out, and the world's best Apple insider weighs in and tells us exactly what to expect, such as months the image he's painting becomes more and more obvious as subsequent leaks support all his claims.
The insider we are talking about is of course TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, formerly of KGI Securities, who first pulled the backdrop of Apple's 2018 iPhone setup about a year ago. Here's the picture he painted in late 2017:
Now, less than a month before Apple is expected to announce its next-generation iPhones, it appears that all Kuo's statements were correct. Thanks to leaked forms from Foxconns factories and more than a dozen independent reports, we know that these are actually the three new iPhone models Apple plans to introduce this year.
First, we have a next-generation version of iPhone X, which will look the same and pack the same 5.8-inch OLED screen, but want upgraded internal components to increase performance. We do not know the name of the phone yet, but think of it as an "S" upgrade. Then we have a larger version of the phone that will have the same core specifications, but with a 6.5-inch OLED screen. This phone has been referred to as "iPhone X Plus", although obviously it will not be the device's launch name. And finally, we have a new cheap iPhone model with less impressive specifications and a 6.1 "LCD screen. All three new iPhone models will share the same design as the current iPhone X, although the LCD iPhone will have a little thicker frames around the screen.
We all know all about the new 2018 iPhones, but when will Apple introduce them? A report from earlier this week cited information from sources of German carriers in claiming that Apple plans to open preorders for its 2018 iPhone setup Friday, 14th. September following an announcement on September 12th. It's probably sensible since Apple announced last year's iPhone setup the week after Labor Day, and began taking regulations on September 15th.
Following this report, BGR can now safely say that it is accurate. Why? Because more Apple partners and third party accessory makers have sent us promotional sites for mysterious new products with promising embargoes, you guessed on September 12th. We do not want to mention any of these careless companies by name, although we are obviously not bound by anything since we never agree on any of these careless embargoes.
For those who do not know how PR works in this industry, companies often send unwanted sites with a small amount of information and then share only the full details of the news once a reporter has agreed not to share the news before an agreed date and time. This is a common practice that helps PR companies and media companies alike, and a good PR person will refrain from sharing any specific details until after the reporter has agreed on the embargo. However, a bad PR person will share information about the announcement even before someone has agreed on the embargo.
It is enough to say that all of the named companies we have received from the mentioned sites are able to know exactly when Apple plans to remove wraps from their next generation iPhone setup. And they have all new accessory messages that arrive at a time on the morning of September 12th. This date has been mentioned sometimes as the likely goal of Apple's 2018 iPhone event, and now it's all but confirmed. An announcement on September 12 will mean that Apple will start taking preorders on Friday 14th. September. The new iPhone models will then be released one week later Friday 21st. September.
Again nothing is confirmed before Apple sends invitations to the media and specifies the date when the press conference at the end of the summer will take place. But based on all this information, we say it's safe to continue and tag your calendars.
