If the monthly price of all these streaming TV services continues to go up, the least they can do is throw in some new features and better video quality, right? This is what YouTube says you can expect from YouTube TV soon; today, the company announced that in the coming weeks, the service will “introduce a new add-on package with 4K streaming, offline viewing and unlimited simultaneous streaming at home.”
Unfortunately, a YouTube TV spokesperson did not have much else to share beyond the top-level news about these upcoming additions. It’s not clear if there will be any limits to which channels or shows support offline downloads, nor does YouTube provide examples of what content will be available in 4K. One should hope for some sporting events. Customers currently have a maximum of three simultaneous streams, but it looks like YouTube will remove such restrictions as long as you watch from home.
The “add-on package” language suggests that you must pay more than the standard $ 65 monthly subscription to access these features. YouTube TV raised its base subscription to it in June last year. But the company still announces that even though costs are rising, YouTube TV still comes with no hidden fees and offers unlimited cloud DVR space. The service has over 3 million customers.
