If you have to use a mask, you might as well make it look cool. Enter Xupermask (pronounced “supermask”
Xupermask has (of course) LED lights and noise-canceling Bluetooth earbuds that are magnetically attached to the mask when not in use. The mask also has dual 3-stage fans for ventilation and replaceable HEPA filters that can be replaced every 30 days.
While Will.i.am is perhaps best known as a technical founder and leading member of the Black Eyed Peas, Xupermask looks more like something electronic music pioneer Daft Punk may be wearing. It’s thanks to Xupermask creative director Jose Fernandez, who has designed some of Hollywood’s most iconic superheroes such as Batman and Spider-Man,, and, funny enough, costumes for Daft Punk.
“Most of the things you wear feel very clinical, medical,” Fernandez said in an interview with CNET. “This one I think has the cool factor.”
A silicone face seal, elastic strap and two size options mean that the Xupermask probably fits a variety of head shapes. You must charge the mask, but the battery lasts up to 7 hours at a time. In addition, you can charge it while using it.
Even, you still need to wear a mask in public, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And there is no shortage of high-tech face masks that are ready to hit the market to make your experience a little more elegant. The gaming company Razer announced , a transparent mask with LED lights and sound processing algorithms so that your voice is clear. LG also has a battery-powered mask with a built-in air purifier. There is even this mask from Blanc that is also ready to help you pay .
But Xupermask will be available for purchase before any of these, at least in the US. It goes on sale April 8 on xupermask.com for $ 299 (£ 215) shipping to the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. But what is it like to wear? Stay tuned when we put one to the test.
