Xiaomi has officially entered the UK market and has already made relocations in Europe in the last 12 months, starting with Spain and continuing with Italy and France. It has arrived with two smartphones, Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and Mi 8 Lite, which were shown at an event in London on Thursday, November 8th.
Mi 8 Pro
Both of these phones are not brand new, both launched in China in September, but they are new in Europe and are currently exclusive to the UK. Mi 8 Pro is the flagship, and the phone will most see, mainly because of the unusual and really beautiful translucent back panel. We really do not see enough of this kind of design, and Xiaomi has been sensible because it's not a real window into the device ̵
Aside from the appearance, the fingerprint sensor will also show attention. We are seeing more and more examples of this technology today, including on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and OnePlus 6T, and it works similarly to Mi 8 Pro. It is under a 6.11 "OLED screen with a resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels and an 18.7: 9 ratio. The battery is a disappointing small 3000mAh cell, and uses Quick Charge 3.0.
Made of glass, the body is only 7.6 mm thick and weighs 177 grams, so it's comfortable to hold and carry around. There is plenty of power from the Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB of RAM, with 128GB of internal storage. On the backside – which has a transient resemblance to an iPhone XS – is a dual-lens camera. Both sensors have 12 megapixels, plus 2x optical zoom mode, optical image stabilization, artificial intelligence for scene recognition and a f / 1.8 aperture. The front camera has 20 megapixels, HDR and A.I. Beauty modes.
Mi 8 Lite
Xiaomo's second phone is Mi 8 Lite, which does not share the same design. but comes in some cool colors, including an Aurora blue and sunset gold, both with the now modern colors. The phone does not have the same specification as Pro, as you expect from the name. It is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with either 4GB or 6GB RAM, which has 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, respectively.
The Mi 8 Lite LCD screen measures 6.26 inches and has a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and a 19: 9 aspect ratio. There are two rear camera lenses, a main 12 megapixel camera and a secondary 5 megapixel camera, which also creates bokeh style portraits, and uses A.I. for scene recognition. The fingerprint sensor is on the back of the device this time, plus it is unlocking the face; but Mi 8 Pro is also supposed to have this feature, but it was not enabled on our testing unit. Finally, the battery has a capacity of 3.350mAh and Quick Charge 3.0, while the body is also made of glass, weighs 169 grams and measures only 7.5mm thick.
Price and Availability
What we do not know about writing time is the price of either Mi 8 phones. Mi 8 Pro and Mi 8 Lite are sold through Xiaomo's own online store, Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse from November 9 together with the three network. The Xiaomi store opens on November 19th. We are at the event in London, and will update when we have all official information. Expect Xiaomi to take OnePlus and Honor with its awards and promotions.
More phones and connected hardware
In addition to the Mi 8 phones, the Redmi 6A will also be available. It's a basic MediaTek powered phone with a 13 megapixel camera, the price of 100 British pounds, or around $ 130, plus the Xiaomi Band 3 training tracker. The band has an OLED display, 20-day battery life and a price of 27 British pounds. , or around $ 35. Finally, the Mi Electric Scooter will be sold for 400 pounds, or $ 525. It has a 30km range, uses an app as the control panel, and weighs only 12kg. It is one of Xiaomos most popular non-smartphone products.
