The Chinese answering machine Xiaomi introduced a new phone – Mi Play – today, and with it, a new notch. The device has a circular camera hook that is not a hole-punch design, as we have seen on Samsung and Huawei devices, but instead is mid-line and clear. There is a "water droplet" notch that is very much a notch, even though it is around. At the back, the phone has dual rear-facing cameras that are vertically aligned, such as Apple's iPhone X line. The color choices all look lovely with trendy gradient options in purple or red.
In particular, Mi Play includes:
- 5.84 inch, 1
- MediaTek P35 processor
- 4GB RAM with 64GB storage
- 3000mAh battery with a Micro USB charging port
- Rear mounted Fingerprint Sensor
- 12 megapixels and 2 megapixels rear-facing cameras
Earlier this year, Xiaomi presented its mince-sized phone, the flagship Mi Mix 3, but that device starts at $ 475 and relies on a mechanical pop-up camera. Mi Play, while it definitely includes a notch and big fittings, starts at 1,099 yuan, or $ 160. It's unclear if it's ever going to be, but it's a great price for this design.
