Microsoft’s official list price for the new Xbox is either $ 500 or $ 300, depending on the model. The(which comes with an optical drive and 4K resolution outputs) costs $ 500, while the more modest Xbox Series S lists for $ 300. The Series S has a slower processor, less internal storage, 1440p output instead of 4K and no optical drive. Despite devastating shortages, all major retailers continue to respect this pricing and sell the consoles at Microsoft’s list price. It’s cold comfort, though due to its chronic sales status, it means that the only real marketplace for capturing the Xbox Series X / S is through retailers where it regularly sells for no less than double the price.
For several months, every time retailers have received inventory and put out units for sale, they have sold out within minutes, largely thanks to retailers’ use of robots that complete transactions far faster than any human. Some resellers have started cracking down on these reseller robots, but the robots continue to prevent many people from getting consoles. These bot-acquired consoles are resold at a premium. On eBay, for example, it is possible to find Xbox Series X priced between $ 700 and $ 1100. Some of the more expensive deals are actually packages that include accessories and games, but they are still very expensive and not at a good value, especially since you probably would not buy the included accessories if you had a free choice.
We have been offering the same advice for several months now: Wait until you can get an Xbox Series X at the $ 500 retail price and avoid dealers and bundles.

We strongly recommend waiting for stock to appear at regular retailers so that you can purchase an Xbox Series X at the regular retail price. If you can not wait, you can find Xbox Series X consoles on eBay with bids from around $ 500, but the actual selling prices are closer to $ 850 and up.
If you are willing to pay hundreds of dollars over the list price, StockX is a reputable eBay-style site that lets you buy new Xbox consoles. That said, the lowest price we could find is around $ 650 and the average closer to $ 800.
