Xbox Live Gold service to retain the title
Microsoft has announced that they are officially rebranding their Xbox Live service “Xbox Network”. The change is not expected to change too much in the bigger picture, and has apparently been made solely for aesthetic, descriptive and marketing reasons.
“” Xbox Network “refers to the underlying Xbox Network Service, which was updated in the Microsoft Services Agreement,” Microsoft said in a statement to The Verge. “The update from ‘Xbox Live’ to ‘Xbox Network’ is intended to separate the underlying service from Xbox Live Gold membership.”
Microsoft has confirmed that the paid online service, Xbox Live Gold, will retain its long-standing moniker. Rebranding is not expected for the subscription service or its use in any way. Microsoft is likely to emphasize this after the debate earlier this year, when an increase in the cost of the Xbox Live Gold service took from users and led to a very rapid turnaround from the publisher.
