starts Monday, June 7th and starts with a virtual main tone at 10 PT. CEO Tim Cook and team are likely to announce , a and new versions of software for most Apple products – including a possible new operating system called HomeOS. Wednesday included an Apple position for a senior iOS engineer and replaced with HomePod.
The job advertisement was not the only possible leak. Unofficial Apple beta tests and four-time NBA champion LeBron James may have leaked a brand new Apple product. King James shared a photo on Instagram showing him wearing what appears to be Beats Studio Buds. The only problem is that Apple does not sell the wireless earbuds and has not announced them. But you can not blame the leak completely on LBJ: Last month, also.
A major event on the first day will provide the biggest news with previews of Apple’s next operating systems – probably iPadOS 15, MacOS 12, WatchOS 8, TV OS 15 and. There may also be hardware news, such as the successor to Apple’s M1 chip and new “pro” Macs that use M-series processors instead of Intel. Apple first announced its M-Class chipsets at last year’s WWDC. The system on a chip is designed internally and is important for the company’s transition from Intel chips.
WWDC21 to showcase the next big iteration of iOS
The next iPhone, probably(unless ), probably . But a new version of the iPhone’s operating system, probably called iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 for iPad, is expected to be revealed.
Last year, new home screen customizations, picture-in-picture video, better widgets, a new Siri interface and App Library, a new way to organize your apps. point to new notification settings based on your current activity, more customizations and interactions for widgets, and new iMessage features that can make it more competitive with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
iPadOS 15 can add customizations to the home screen. Widgets are not referred to the widget stack, and instead have multiple iPhone-like controls.
Apple launchedand a , but the distinction between “pro” and non “pro” models is more based on hardware differences than software. It would be great to see more iPadOS features that support “pro” users.
iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 are expected to launch this fall along with. For more, .
Call MacOS 12 with a new California name
One of the revealed devoted Apple fans is the name of the next version of MacOS. For many years, Mac OS X versions were named after big cats like Snow Leopard and Lion. In 2014, with the release of OS X 10.10, Apple began naming the software after notable landmarks in California such as Yosemite and most recently Big Sur. So maybe the next one will be called MacOS Monterey? Or MacOS Golden Gate? Maybe MacOS Hollywood sign? Yes, I have no idea.
Not much is known about Apple’s next update for the computer operating system. There have been no particular rumors or leaks, and to quote Magic 8 Ball, “Answer hazy, try again.”
MacOS 12 may be a minor update focusing on changes under the hood. M1 chips are approaching their first birthday, and at the moment MacOS must support it as well as Intel-based Macs. But that points to a bigger question: Where are the M1 Pro machines? It is not clear if there will be a new version of the M1 chip at WWDC 2021 or an “X” version of the processor. But many of us are hoping for a shiny new MacBook Pro that showcases the “pro” version of the M-Series chip.
WWDC 2021 includes clues and Easter eggs
Applescame up with a picture and animation of a Memoji character looking at an opened MacBook. The image is a nod to memes that appeared after , where Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi demonstrated how Macs with the M1 chip can instantly wake up. The video was underlined by and was suitably cheesy.
The tagline for WWDC 2021 is “Glow and See.” Usually. Could the fact that Memoji wears glasses with a reflection of software elements be a nuisance too ? Or maybe “glow” is a reference to the headlights on ? Or maybe the animated image is just a nod to new MacOS features and the dock?
New hardware announcements have a consistently inconsistent history at WWDC. In recent years, Apple has shared a major renewal of several key products and. But if Apple is planning a new product like AR glasses, it needs software ( ) and developers to create apps for it.
WatchOS 8 can bring new health features to the Apple Watch
In addition to iPhones and computers, expect software updates for. Like MacOS, details about WatchOS 8 have hardly been leaked. That being said, there are several persistent rumors from recent years that have not yet materialized.
A rumor from May 2020 is the inclusion of mental health functions. For examplewhich can be used in conjunction with heart rate measurements to detect high levels of stress and even panic attacks.
Another rumor from 2017. However, this seems like a feature that will be revealed at the launch of the next Apple Watch, as it will likely require new hardware as a spectrometer to perform the measurements.
One feature many of us are hoping for is to remove Apple Watch’s addiction to the iPhone. We saw. It is not clear what is required in terms of hardware and software to achieve this, but it will open Apple Watch for people without iOS devices.
