It is the second Tuesday of the month, which means that Microsoft released new, cumulative updates for the supported versions of the operating system. The company released a set of cumulative updates only in late November, by the way. However, the company did not launch a new update for the latest version of Windows 10 – version 1809 – then.
Today's set of updates brings KB4471332 to Windows 10 version 1809, which provides a solution for Windows Media Player and a number of security updates:
- Addresses an issue that can prevent the use of the search box in Windows Media Player when playing specific files . This issue does not affect normal playback.
- Security Updates for Windows Authentication, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows App Platforms and Frames, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Storage and File Systems, Windows Wireless Networking, Windows Kernel, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Scripting Engine.
Although the update does not contain known issues, Microsoft says that the company will not release any updates or preview lists for Windows 10 to 2019 due to the holiday season.
Microsoft also released updates for Windows 10 version 1803, version 1709, version 1703 and version 1607. Please note that both version 1703 and 1607 are no longer supported for consumer SKUs of Windows 10 so you must upgrade to newer versions of Windows 10 if you are still driving the older versions.
