The Yankees’ great Joe DiMaggio almost appeared in an episode of “Seinfeld.”
Joltin ‘Joe became prominent in a season 3 episode where Kramer discovers him in a coffee shop and tries to disturb DiMaggio’s concentration while pounding his donuts (DiMaggio himself did not appear in the episode).
According to Dr. Rock Positano ̵
“Joe’s grandson was a big fan of ‘Seinfeld’ and wanted him to do the como,” Positano told Page Six.
Positano also revealed that DiMaggio was actually a “dunker” whose favorite “was plain pound cake toasted on a grill on one side only.”
In the end, the infamous private sports hero made the appearance, despite the family’s prayers.
“He felt it would have opened him up to criticism and invaded privacy whenever he walked into a coffee shop,” Positano explained.
But “Seinfeld” made a mistake.
“Joe was a dunker who dunked with his right hand, not his left, as it was shown in the ‘Seinfeld’ scene,” Positano added. “He always ordered half a cup of decaffeinated caffeine with a side of hot water and mixed the two carefully just like a chemist.”
