WhatsApp now allows you to participate in ongoing group conversations

WhatsApp group conversations are about to behave more like Zoom conversations and other more free format chats. The company has started launching the opportunity to participate in ongoing group discussions, instead of having to be there (and be) when the conversation starts. You can drop in and out as desired as long as you were invited at the beginning.

There is also a call information screen to show who is participating in and invited to a chat. Also, do not worry if you have to press “ignore” for a call – the door will still be open if you want to join later.

The addition is a recognition that Zoom and other more flexible video chat services are still popular even when the pandemic (hopefully) winds its way. WhatsApp also acknowledges that some people have always had different video chats ̵

1; this can make the service more appealing if you have always left a video chat so friends can come in when they have a moment.
