WhatsApp for iOS adds compatibility with multiple devices for some beta users

Two weeks later WABetaInfo discovered that compatibility with multiple devices for WhatsApp was coming, the platform now launches version with this feature enabled for some beta testers of the app.

According to the website, multi-device compatibility is being launched for more iOS beta testers, although some users may not be qualified yet.

When this feature is available to all users, people will be able to use WhatsApp on four different devices and a mobile phone, which means you can use WhatsApp on Mac even without iPhone on or connected to the internet.

With compatibility with multiple devices, users can use WhatsApp Web, desktop version and Portal without internet connection or the user̵

This is probably the way WhatsApp will finally release an iPad version, as it has been rumored for about three years now.

You can confirm if multiple devices are enabled for your WhatsApp account by opening Settings app> Connected devices; if you see a new row called multiple devices, that means you can finally join the beta program!

WABetainfo also warns that this beta may not work properly with multi-device compatibility for now:

  • Fixed chats: they are not synchronized immediately, so you have to search for them manually the first time to be shown.
  • Live locations: they may not be visible on connected devices.
  • If you join the beta application on WhatsApp Business, your company name and labels cannot be changed from web and desktop applications.
  • You can not chat and call people who have an old WhatsApp version on their phone, from Web / Desktop apps. Just tell them to update WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or App Store.

Recently, in an interview with Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart, they said that “it has been a great technical challenge to get all messages and content synchronized.” Fortunately, all users will be able to use this feature sooner rather than later.
