What Tech: Samsung Note 9 review

(WHAT TECH) – Samsung's latest phone hits stores on Friday, and this is a big deal. Because note 9 is a big phone. The screen is 6.4 "diagonal, to put it in perspective, it is .6" larger than the S9 Plus and iPhone X.

Sure it feels bigger in your hand and you can not send a text or open an app with just one hand, but it's not easy to do any phone these days. The extra size gives the screen the ability to shine, and it does because it's the sharpest screen I've seen on a smartphone.

I left the note 9 along with an iPhone X and streamed transformers on both. While the iPhone X screen is very bright to enjoy the movie, note 9 was clearer, especially in the scenes with very little light.

I was a little worried that the big screen and brightness would reduce battery life, but Samsung made the battery larger in note 8. It's a bit thicker when you hold it, but it makes a big difference when you use the phone all the time of the day. After watching the full 2-hour and 23-minute movie, Not 9's battery still had 81

% of its life. It's a big deal if you can not keep your phone charging all day.

The other remarkable difference in Note 9 and other Android phones is that it's fun. Even after watching the whole movie and playing about 45 minutes of virtual reality games, Note 9 was still cool to touch. You can not say about most phones that are heated after just short time playing games or watching videos.

Oh, and before I forget, the speakers on the note 9 are very good. Several times while I watched the movie I almost forgot, I watched a smartphone without a headset. It was not completely surround sound, but it was close.

Photographs taken with note 9 are very bright, even in low light. Note 9 has the same camera as the Galaxy S9 Plus. When you add a few slides taken with the note 9, side by side with the same pictures taken with an iPhone X, there is no comparison. Note 9 camera captured all available details in bright colors.

Note 9 also has an S-Pen that has always been a reflection for most users. Unless you need to take many handwritten notes or do some graphic design, the S-Pen has been something else to keep up with, but with note 9, the new S-Pen has built-in Bluetooth. You know those moments when you try to take a selfie with an extended arm and try to pull the shutter button to take the picture? You can use S-Pen as a remote control to speak the picture or even open the camera folder. If you are presenting a PowerPoint presentation or other presentation program, you can change slides just by touching the S-Pen page. Since it has Bluetooth, the S-pen must be charged, but it takes full charge in just 40 seconds when you put it in the storage space on the bottom of the phone.

All in all, note 9 is one of the best phones I've ever tried, and I've tried many of them. It has a pretty hot price tag of $ 1000 and $ 1249, but if you need to do more with a phone than take selfies, send an email or check Facebook, the note 9 is a great phone. It's perfect for Android lovers and people who love big phones.

Some providers offer special offers on the note, including AT & T and Verizon currently having a buy-and-get-one-free offer.
