Samsung’s latest flagship phone, Galaxy S21, is just around the corner, with Unpacked launch event scheduled to take place January 14, the last day of CES. We expect to see three different variants of the phone in different sizes, each with a different battery size.

The S21 base is expected to have a 4000 mAh battery that powers its 6.2-inch screen. The S21 Plus will probably increase that size to 6.7 inches, and will thus push a battery with a higher capacity of 4,800 mAh. The S21 Ultra will be the largest of the three at 6.8 inches and will pack a 5,000 mAh battery. Promotional slides leaked Wednesday by Evan Blass seems to confirm these rumors.

This is quite in line with the battery sizes used in the S20 series: the base model S20 has a 4000 mAh cell and the S20 Ultra increases it to 5000 mAh. We hope to see similar performance in terms of battery life. You probably won’t struggle to get through a day of careful use, but streaming video for many years and taking lots of pictures and videos will probably mean you have to charge in the evening. As always, we will put the phones through our usual range of battery tests when we get them.
