“Some mechanics will not feel completely alienated from the people who played the Arkham series, but in many ways it is very different.”
WB Games Montreal, the studio behind the upcoming Batman game Gotham Knights, has confirmed that the team has “completely redesigned” the combat system to improve the collaboration experience.
Gotham Knights is a role-playing game with open player and co-op action with playable Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin. The setup is that the quartet must protect Gotham after the alleged death of Bruce Wayne.
“We have completely redesigned the combat system to work well together,”
“The two-player dynamics suit the imagination and Gotham City setting.” The duo “or team-up is a key feature of the universe that there is a literal shorthand for it in comics, animation, film and TV versions,” added creative director Patrick Redding. “Gotham is a city with alleys and rooftops, so the footprint of games must be compatible with it.”
“Since the progression of the story is shared between all the characters, it also makes sense that you don’t have to smooth them out from the bottom every time you want to switch. It also stays very coherent when it comes to our narrative,” Marty said.
“Since the other members of the Batman family are always present in some way in the background, while you are out in the world fighting crime or solving the mystery, they do not remain inactive. So it makes sense that they also evolve and get stronger. “
