Warzone players abuse a new invisibility bug to win • Eurogamer.net

UPDATE 18.40: Following the discovery – and subsequent abuse – of an invisible bug in Call of Duty: Warzone’s recently introduced Armored Royale mode, developer Raven Software has announced that it will remove the mode from rotation while investigating the issue.

There’s no indication yet as to when Armored Royale may return, but it’s probably worth keeping an eye on Raven’s twitter feed, where the announcement broke, for further updates.

ORIGINAL STORY 15.15: It’s a case of one step forward and two steps back for Call of Duty: Warzone exploits, with players now abusing an invisible error to win.

This bug, which was first reported in December 2020 but apparently exacerbated by last week’s Warzone update, is hot on the heels of developer Raven Software’s solution to the troublesome endless stimulation bug that had plagued the game’s royal behemoth for months.

The invisibility bug appears to be limited to Armored Royale mode, which was added to Warzone on February 5 as part of the game’s weekly playlist update.

Armored Royale mode is unique in that it gives player troops a truck equipped with reinforced armor, a custom mobile vehicle upgrade station and, crucially, a built-in tower.

The invisible error that hit Warzone in December 2020 was about the new helicopter minigun, and it is believed that this new error may be part of a similar error. Raven ended up temporarily withdrawing the attack helicopter from both Warzone maps as it worked on a solution.

I was contacted by a number of frustrated Warzone players this weekend who had run up against this invisibility bug. In the video below, from Twitch streamer Yoda0103, one Armored Royale match ended with nine invisible players across five teams.

Players also report the issue on Warzone subreddit:

Really Activision ?! How is the invisibility error BACK in the game along with so many other exploits ?? from r / CODWarzone

The hope is that Raven will fix this sooner rather than later, although pulling the truck from Armored Royale would ruin the mode. Maybe Raven will pull the mode completely while working on a solution.

This is not the only invisibility flaw in Warzone right now. Grinch’s Forest Spirit skin currently has a flaw that makes the model invisible at certain distances (only the head and gun are visible). Raven is working on sorting this.

Warzone runs the business for Activision, but it has a relatively tough time for mistakes and errors at the moment, while Activision is fighting to turn its reputation around as a game full of cheating.
