Warzone devs tease two new Warzone-specific benefits and High Alert buff

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 Reloaded is here, and the team at Raven Software has included made some major changes to weapons and weapon balancing in Verdansk, with buffs and nerfs for a variety of weapons over Modern Warfare & Cold War inventory.

Raven Software aims to keep the weapon meta and balancing fresh as part of new updates, so that more weapons can shine. As the first tease with season 4 patch notes, Raven has been working on making adjustments to the total time to kill in Warzone with weapon balancing, and this is fine.

With the launch of the Season 4 Reloaded update in Warzone on July 15, Raven Software has made a number of adjustments to the weapons in the game, across both the Cold War and modern war weapons.

Raven’s blog describes how they decided to make changes for season 4 again.

The following changes are our first major step toward increasing the average Time-to-Kill within Warzone. It is important to note that these weapon adjustments were not made in a vacuum. When considering an individual change, some may seem quite drastic, but they were made holistically and in a way that supported an increase in locked steps in the average TTK across several weapon categories.

Here are all the weapons that Raven Software has adjusted in Warzone with the season 4 Reloaded update.

Raven to closely monitor weapon balancing

Raven has confirmed that they will continue to monitor the balance of weapons in Warzone closely and see how these season 4 Reloaded updates affect the meta.

Statistically speaking, it will always be a “best weapon”. That’s the nature of a competitive game. Players will seek out and take advantage of all the benefits they can, no matter how small it may be. We will be very careful to ensure that the ‘best weapon’ does not override the welcome and has efficiency that scales with the handler’s skill. Conversely, there are also many players who prefer a myriad of options to choose from. Our goal is to provide just that. We will continue to compress outliers, both high and low, until each weapon is at least viable. We do not want players to feel that they have a clear disadvantage for not adhering to the widely accepted “best weapon.”

“We will monitor weapon performance closely to ensure that the game is in a healthy state after the largest balance update in Warzone’s history.”
