Wacom is adding the Intuos Drawing Tablet to work with the Chromebook series

Wacom is the world’s largest manufacturer of pen tablets and pen display solutions. As far as graphics boards go, Wacom is easily the most well-known name in this particular area, and the company became the first manufacturer to launch a pen tablet bearing the brand “Works with Chromebook”. The One by Wacom was announced in late January and offers a budget-friendly solution for users who want to add a dedicated drawing pad to their Chromebook without using an on-screen pen. Wacom was followed by XP Pen – another massive player in this room – which announced that a number of the tablet tablets now fully support use on Chrome OS.

Not to be outdone, Wacom is back with a new addition to the Works with Chromebook line. This morning, the company announced that its existing Intuos Creative Pen Tablet is now officially Chrome OS compatible. The Wacom Intuos Graphics Drawing Tablet is a 7.9 ″ x 6.3 ″ device that connects via USB-A to the host computer and works with the included EMR pen that has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Intuos should work with all updated Chrome OS devices, even those without a touch screen. This means that any Chromebook can be turned into a graphic design tool or a palette for ambitious artists and creators.

Although this is only the second device from Wacom to receive the Works with Chromebook authentication seal, it appears that the company has noticed Chrome OS and is working to bring more of its products to the platform.

Chromebooks have attracted the attention of the education sector and of those seeking new solutions for working from home. Wacom is currently working on extending Chromebook compatibility to include additional Wacom devices and bringing intuitive and natural pen technology to a rapidly growing number of Chromebook users.

Intuo’s Creative Pen Tablet is available now for $ 79.95 from Wacom e-store and other select retailers, including BH Photo, Walmart, Best Buy. The tablet comes with an EMR pen, USB cable and a software package that includes a 2-year license for Clip Studio Paint Pro and a 90-day trial of Corel Painter Essentials 7 & Corel AfterShot Pro 3. (Device registration is required to receive software packages. The really good news here is that Wacom probably won’t have to do much to add more tablets to the Works with Chromebook app. As we’ve seen with many devices, many peripherals “only” work when you connect them to a Chromebook. Wacom only needs to test and certify current models, and we can finally see advanced graphics boards like Wacom One on the list.

Intuo’s Creative Pen Tablet also works with Mac, PC and select Android devices so you can use them across ecosystems. This model has Wacom’s programmable express keys, but that feature does not currently work with Chrome OS. You must go to another operating system to use these options. If your Chromebook only has USB-C ports, you need to pick up a USB-C to USB-A adapter like this to connect to Wacom Intuos. You can find Wacom Intuos at the dealer you want below.
