Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL received their first update to handle a handful of errors with last month's security update. Since then, more issues have occurred, with the December security update rolling out today to address them. Meanwhile, Nexus 5X and 6P still receive updates for this month.
Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Pixel C still receive security updates, despite meeting the required three year deadline for Google's necessary repairs last month. Meanwhile, Pixel and Pixel XL updates are delayed, as in November.
There are 17 issues resolved in December Security Update dated 2018-12-01 and 36 for 2018-12-05. Vulnerabilities vary from high to critical, with the strictest associated with the media frame and an external attacker possibly who perform arbitrary code through a designed file.
Google generally notes that there are no reports that customers are affected by these vulnerabilities. The company quoted in the 2017 Android Security Review that 30% more devices get updates compared to the previous year.
The dedicated bulletin for Google phones and tablets shows an additional security fix and 13 functional updates. For more about the repairs, be sure to read our full post indicating the changes.
