Popular streamer xQc ended up having to explain why he had a folder labeled “cheats” on his PC after accidentally revealing the folder menu screen live. The reason behind it was much more innocent than some fans had hoped.
Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is one of Twitch’s most popular streamers, with a number of followers of over 4.4 million. Thanks to the large amount of streaming he does, it is no wonder that something dramatic or fun happens on a daily basis when it is live.
This time, people thought Felix had really messed up when he accidentally revealed his computer screen̵
Lengyel made matters worse by appearing to panic as the screen showed, probably only worried that something private might have been accidentally displayed.
xQc explained that he has a tap to mute, and when he clicked on it, he ended up pulling up a screen full of files. The names of the folders included ‘Battery’, ‘Bit and Sub Badge Files’, along with games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Fall Guys.
It didn’t take long before a folder caught the viewers’ attention though: a tagged ‘Cheats.’ Almost as soon as the page opened, it was closed, but chat managed to grab the suspiciously named folder and flooded xQc with comments about it.
Felix went on to explain why the folder is called that, and it was much less stressful than it first looked.
“These are Minecraft mod packages. I have a ‘cheat folder’, that’s just how it works. After a moment’s thought, he said, “Ah, it’s not even Minecraft. It’s Pokémon. I’m stupid, it’s actually Pokémon. ”
“Every time you download a game like Pokemon and you have a randomizer, and your randomizer, there’s something called ‘cheats,’ and those cheats are like making the game different,” he continued.
“If you are running a particular race, you need to use a cheat file. It’s called cheating because you cheat the game, you cheat it. Either to make it harder, or easier. ”
That did not stop the chat from making jokes about the accidental revelation, but at least Felix’s explanation shed light on the real reason why he has a folder marked cheats on his computer.
Using any kind of cheat or hack in games is actually contrary to Twitch’s Community Guidelines (not to mention likely that you’ll also be banned from the game). So, of course, xQc will stay away from anything that is inappropriate when playing. But mods are allowed on Twitch, provided it does not “give the account owner an unfair advantage in an online multiplayer game.”
