The humble Chevy Sonic must be one of the best choices for nomination for "most ridiculous rally car conversion ever."
PMR Motorsports recently debuted its Chevrolet Sonic LS3 AWD construction at the Indianapolis Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, but did not get much in the way of details, so there are some issues.
First and foremost: how the hell did they get that engine – a 6.2 liter LS3 V8 that makes 430 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque ̵
For reference, the base level Chevrolet Sonic comes with a 1.4-liter inline four that produces 138 HP and 125 lb-ft of torque. Obviously, this establishment will not move or sound like that.
It looks different, and fortunately there are some pictures. The PMR Motorsports team took it for rally specification with harness racing seats, roller cage and fire suppression system, adding a wide body kit and prominent rear wing for good measure.
Team leader and rallycross driver Pat Moro will manage Sonic LS3 at several American Rally Association races in 2019.
