The competitive society breathed a lind of relief when Nintendo revealed that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would support classic GameCube controllers, the favorite gamepad for the game series. But it also meant that fans would need an adapter to get the old cable controls to work with Nintendo Switch. Perhaps the best solution so far is GBros. A new wireless option from 8bitdo, a company that has made a name for itself with good retro controls and very useful adapters.
The $ 19.99 unit is simple. You connect the GameCube controller to the adapter and connect it wirelessly to the switch. It gives you the best of both worlds, with an ideal Smash controller that is not limited by wires. 8bitdo says that the adapter has 30 hours of battery life and it also has both a home and a screen. It even comes in the iconic GameCube shadow of purple.
And while clearly designed with Nintendo's fighter in mind, GBros has. also has some other uses. It works with Windows, firstly, and has a port that supports several other gamepads, including Nintendo's Classic Edition line and the old Wii Classic controller. You can pre-order GBros. on Amazon starting today, although it is not expected to be sent to December 7th – the same day Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches.
