Nintendo is doing something about this series as well as delaying it
Metroid Prime is a classic. I do not think it is up for debate. It’s just that.
Nintendo thinks so! Therefore, they released it again years later in the trilogy on the Wii after the GameCube debut in 2002. But ever since the Wii release in 2009, the series has remained dormant. I mean, there’s supposedly another one at work! But it could be years away at this point. Go into fandom.
It is still a large collective that gathers around Metroid franchise by and large Prime series. One of these groups managed to make a demake of Metroid Prime, which is now available in demo form. Said demo involves Tallon Overworld, Artifact Temple and Chozo Ruins, but the team “needs to spend more time”
The demo itself is the result of five years of work by “Team SCU.” Presumably to avoid legal issues, the team calls this project “Prime 2D”, although I’m not sure it would be sufficient if Nintendo really wanted to nail this.
Since I inevitably get “thank you Destructoid, you personally sent an email to Nintendo to get this closed!” messages, I will notice here that the creators of the project post a public post for the demo, and “Let’s Plays” is already on YouTube (like the one below), one of the world’s largest video platforms, for public viewing. The “secret” is out!
