Over the years, Warframe has grown from a modest online action game to one of the most remarkable success stories on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Since its debut, the network action with "romninjaer" at the helm has slowly expanded its repertoire of places, playable characters and loot to acquire within its sprawling and evolving universe. As a fan base has grown exponentially since its launch, Warframe has even expanded with it and is now ready for its biggest update yet.
During a live streaming before the Fortuna expansion launch, game director Steve Sinclair gave a sincere look at the development process behind the massive update from Digital Extreme offices. The developer discussed more than 45,000 viewers at Twitch, how much work went into the expansion launch, while making some complaints about what was going to happen.
With the Fortuna extension, now released as a free update on PC ̵
This extension follows in particular the footsteps of last year's amazing Plains of Eidolon, which introduced Warframe's first open space on Earth. As the other big map, you can freely explore the places while on vacation while engaging in any side activity and dynamic events that occur. Like the previous extension, you also have a new hub to explore where you can interact with many townspeople and special characters to learn more about their own stories and reveal events. Also, the continuation of Plains of Eidolon is the weapon handling system, allowing you to mix and match components to forge new melee weapons and firearms.
Within these new areas there are also a wealth of mini games and activities to participate in – including famous favorites like fishing and mining, which have seen some improvements. Fortuna also introduces a new hunting activity, focusing on tracking rare species in nature. But instead of hunting for sports or materials, you will actually save these animals from extinction. Although there are many small animals to meet, Fortuna also has many other special sample types, which is a bit more difficult to find than others.
To help players cover more ground in Fortuna, Warframe introduces a hoverboard for players to acquire. Known as K-Drives, these vehicles are unlocked after completing key missions. While the famous Archwings are still available – allowing you to fly over the areas on the map – hoverboards are a bit faster and you can even pull off some tricks when you get enough air. Having met a friendly faction in the colony, you can use new upgrades and customization options for your table, which will give you more style when you're grinding and swooping over the map.
With the upcoming Switch version on the road, Warram is also sure to offer more variety of content, but also how to play the game. Out now, Fortuna offers a lot of content for players, as well as a number of quality enhancements. This new expansion seems to be another big step forward for the game – something that will make a reassessment well worth it.
