The ultimate Lego Star Wars game is delayed again, indefinitely, and that’s OK

If you have been waiting anxiously for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga To fulfill the incredible promise of the moving trailer from August last year (see above), I have some bittersweet news: the game is delayed again. Developer TT Games tweeted on Friday that “we will not be able to make our planned release date”, which in itself was a delay from the game’s original launch window for 2020.

Bittersweet, because the delay comes with the promise that it will be the company’s “biggest and best LEGO game ever”, which is exactly what the trailer looked like last autumn.

It is sixteen years since the first Lego Star Wars, and I can certainly wait a little longer if there is a chance to reach that goal. We’ve seen way too many games pushed out before they were ready, and I can think of at least one notable reason why some developers might need a little more time now.

It could mean one less game for new PS5 and Xbox Series X / S buyers to take advantage of the new consoles in the short term. (It’s coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC as well.)

There is no new release date for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga yet.
