After several months of rumors, LG has made it official: it will end its smartphone business on July 31.
The company will close down its existing inventory from today, although it may take until after July to complete. Software support will continue for current phones, but how long it will depend on the region. More details are expected to come tomorrow, but given that it has not set the pace on OTA despite its efforts, we do not expect much.
LG goes on to say in the statement that they will focus on 6G wireless infrastructure and other areas where they can use mobile related technologies as components for electric vehicles. No idea whether it will choose to choose from its current projects, such as the mobile phone.

Other parts of LG’s electronics portfolio such as TVs and household appliances remain in place.
