Later that year, Karatsevidis offered a slightly more detailed explanation on the Eve forum: An unfortunate partnership with Fortress Tech Distribution LTD, an outfit tasked with running the company’s online store, led to “supply chain problems, funds frozen by payment processors and for early deliveries, causing frustration among society and direct damage to our brand. ”Recognizing the flaws, Eve later whipped up a form to gather information from affected buyers so it could try to do things right.

Now, over a year later, someone who ordered Eve Vs or asked for a refund through this form still have not received them. A Reddit thread from the summer that requires updates from Eve V buyers, contains two dozen accounts from shaken users, some of whom claim that the company has stopped responding to their correspondence completely. When asked for a comment, an Eve spokesperson made the following statement:
“The models of change we have made can be summarized in two main points:
Our business is supported by a well-known supply chain company PCH International, which mainly increases the scope and capacity of our small team to the major technical players by offering fulfillment, purchasing, inventory management and other services.
We do not use third-party vendors and a licensing business model this time. We now take full care of sending the product ourselves.
Most refund requests have already been processed. We solve the remaining ones with high priority. ”
At this point, it is difficult to say definitively whether these issues stem from poor management by an inexperienced team, a lousy deal with a trusted partner, or something more questionable. That said, it does not matter how pretty or well specified a machine Eve can build this time. If it does not find a way to do things right for its first round of believers, it is difficult to imagine many people buying into its vision this time.
