ONE new Saints Row video gives us a new look at gameplay and an behind-the-scenes investigation of what it means to restart the clown prince of the open world.
The “Welcome to Santo Ileso” trailer from developer Volition takes you on a seven-minute tour of the game, complete with game pieces that show what it looks like in action – while we still wait for a more comprehensive, uninterrupted look at how it really is feels like playing the new Saints Row, this is a welcome follow-up to the CGI trailer that debuted on Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2021
The trailer shows the new southwestern American city of Santo Ileso, which proudly carries the motto “Keep it strange, Santo”, and introduces the rival gangs you want to chew through during the campaign. It also gives a proper introduction to the other three founders of the Saints: entrepreneur Eli, the turner Neenah and the shirtless influencer Kevin. Equally important are some of the ways you can create your own custom boss, including a chrome-plated cowboy with a neon green mohawk haircut.
“They are the choices I can make in the way I can play the game, and most importantly, take advantage of the experience of Volition and the creativity we have, try new things and then have this open world where we can realize it,” says the head of creativity in Volition, Jim Boone, in the video “I think it’s a very exciting game with Saints Row.”
