The Oddworld Collection brings together three classics for the Nintendo Switch



Abe’s Anthology

Classic experiences from the book Oddworld is being collected for release on the Nintendo Switch. Publisher Microids has announced The Oddworld Collection; a physical release that includes a trio of Abe and Co.’s weird, puzzle-platforming adventures.

The first of the three titles is Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, a fundamental remake of the original 1997 PlayStation release Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. New ‘n’ Tasty sees heroic Mudokan Abe begin his rebellious push against the sinister, capitalist Glukkons, who intend to turn both Abe and his people into intergalactic foods for distribution throughout the galaxy. This first series entry introduced the players for Oddworldits bizarre universe, as well as non-confrontational, puzzle-solving, micro-control gameplay.

The second title mentioned in The Oddworld Collection is the 2001

s Oddworld: Munchs Oddysee, who sees Munch, a gabbit who is hunted to near extinction, and his efforts to free himself and the few remaining gabbits from a floating research laboratory monitored by a cruel race known as Vykkers. Munchs Oddysee so the action transitions from 2.5D to 3D, when Munch, (with an assistant from Abe), takes himself through the laboratory in an attempt to bring down Vykkers from within.

The rounding off of the collection is the 2005s Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. This Western-themed title takes a broad side step from its predecessors, embracing a double third-and-first-person shooter, while still retaining some of the brothers’ platform and puzzle. As “The Stranger” tracks players and takes down the desired shot, while exploring a wide variety of locations from Oddworld universe.

It should be noted that all three titles in The Oddworld Collection is already available for purchase from the Nintendo eShop, but for all fans who have been pulling the trigger, The Oddworld Collection will be a convenient way to have all three games on a cassette when it hits stores on May 27th. Microids has stated that there are currently no plans to bring this all-in-one release to other platforms.
