The Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow concept welcomes the brand's original W 125 racing car

By Hannah Elliott

In Monterey, California, late Friday, Mercedes-Benz revealed its newest concept car, EQ Silver Arrow. It is a tribute to the brand's original W 125 racing car, which in 1937 set the record for fastest land-speed car on a public road by traveling almost 270 miles per hour. This album was only broken late last year by Koenigsegg Agera.

The electric seat relies on a long list of memorable concepts that Mercedes shows each year in advance of Pebble Beach Concours décor on Sunday. None of them will achieve anything near production, but design chief Gorden Wagener says that they are useful to illustrate how the brand's future will look like a vehicle.

As the name suggests, it is extremely tall and thin. The car is more than 1

7 meters long, but only 3 meters deep, with a carbon fiber front splitter and side skirt with a lighting strip. Large, recessed EQ letter gives out the name of the EQ brand of battery-powered vehicles, illuminated in blue in front of the rear wheels.

The rear diffuser also looks like those on vintage racers, with a retractable spoiler that acts as an air brake by increasing the wind resistance that the car lowers.

A lever on the side of the seat adjusts the pedal height to suit the driver's height.

If EQ Silver Arrow was to be manufactured for sale, Wagener said it would have a power of 738 hp thanks to a thin rechargeable battery of about 80 kWh and a driving range of more than 250 miles.
