After skipping 2020 for obvious reasons, E3 is still scheduled to return in June as a kind of all-digital event. In the absence of details on what to expect and many rumors of industry participation, a report emerged claiming that some elements of the show would be placed behind a payroll wall, with GeForce Now-powered streaming demos.
In a tweet, ESA said “E3’s digital show 2021 is a free event for all participants,” and confirmed in a follow-up statement that “there will be no items on E3 2021 that will be behind a payroll wall.” Whether it represents a change in plans, a narrowing of the scope after examining other approaches or something completely different, we do not know, but we will have to wait to find out exactly how this year̵
