It’s less than a month since Clubhouse came to Android, and the audio chat app shows no signs of slowing down as we roll into June. At a town hall held on the app yesterday, the service highlighted the success so far and suggested what was to come throughout the summer.
According to Clubhouse, the app has surpassed more than two million users on Android alone, doubling its base in just one week after a global launch. Although the Android version has not fully taken hold of the iOS counterpart, the service intends to use the next updates to improve detection and notifications in the app. The clubhouse aims to release to the public once this summer, which will remove the restrictions that are only invitations from the app for all future users.

Getting closer to feature parity for our 2m + Android users every day
🌐 Headline for general release sometime this summer! This means that the next updates will be about discovery, alerts and less visible, but very important improvements

Although the clubhouse is running towards an official launch, it is of course facing ever-increasing competition. Reddit, Twitter, Spotify, Telegram and Facebook all have similar apps, whether they are already live or on the go. There are many ways to listen to strangers on the internet, but with Clubhouse serving as a dedicated platform for this type of thing, it might still be a win-win.
