The Big Final Fantasy 14 event today can reveal a new expansion, and you can watch it live

During a livestream from Final Fantasy XIV from last year, which outlined the wave of content we received for the 5.4 update, it was revealed that a major event is planned for February. Well, it is today, and it is called the FFXIV Announcement Exhibition. Although it was not explicitly stated what would be revealed during the event, it will probably include the first revelation of FFXIV’s next expansion.

FFXIV Announcement Showcase will be a live broadcast that takes place February 5, 2021 (today) starting at. 17:30 PT / 20:30 ET (February 6, 01:30 GST), and it includes live Japanese- to English interpretation with English sound. You can watch livestream via the official FFXIV YouTube or FFXIV Twitch channels. We have also included a build-in of the power below.

This event was originally supposed to be part of a larger 14-hour livestream instead of Fan Fest, which had to be canceled due to the global pandemic. However, we will also receive a new Live Letter from the producer stream later at night at 22:00 PT, after the announcement exhibition, to outline what comes in update 5.5 for FFXIV.

Not much has been said about the showcase itself, although you can expect it to be the opportunity for Square Enix to showcase the upcoming expansion for FFXIV. MMORPG has been on a schedule that delivers an extension every two years and five major content updates in between that link history events across the extensions. The latest, Shadowbringers, was launched in July 2019 and was met with great criticism – for the context, the unveiling of it took place in November 2018. The two previous expansions, Stormblood and Heavensward, were launched in 2017 and 2015, respectively.

Patch 5.4, which went live on December 8, continued the main story’s mission line along with the whimsically instantiated dungeon called Matoya’s Relict. The update also included the final phase of the Eden Raid series, and more in the Sorrow of Werlyt quest that pitted you against Emerald Weapon in a boss battle. Major changes also came to the monk job, as well as other features such as Triple Triad and Explorer mode for dungeons. Subsequent updates, such as update 5.45 that landed this week, made changes and additions to the Ishgardian Restoration content and the Bozjan Southern Front mission.

If you are planning to get into the game, be sure to use the FFXIV Getting Started Guide as you jump into the comprehensive free trial of FFXIV which includes the entire base game and first expansion. Stay tuned for our coverage of the FFXIV announcement exhibition as well.
