Back in 2017, Essential Phone was ready to shake up the Android market and promised the perfect smartphone experience. While the device was highly praised for its release with its impressive features, it eventually failed to live up to its potential as a number of price reductions were seen along with non-capture accessories. Now it is important that the startup led by Android founder Andy Rubin has confirmed that the flagship PH-1 is out of stock and closed.
While you can still find any remaining Essential Phone devices from other sellers, the Company has stated that it is sold out on its own website and that they will not produce anything more. Existing owners don't have to worry yet, as Essential says it will continue to sell accessories to your phone, and more importantly, release software updates.
The other major news in the announcement is that Essential revealed that it focuses on "next" mobile product. "No other details were offered, unfortunately, and a spokesman refused to confirm that his next product is a phone. Plans for an important phone 2 were already canceled earlier this year, so we are unlikely to see anything like PH-1
There are some guesses about or when we see the Essentials next product, but see how the first phone served a dedicated fan base, it is a good chance that there will be some customers eager to see what's coming next.
