Mach 1 is back in 2021, and replaces Bullitt in the Mustang series. Mach 1 sits above the EcoBoost and GT models, but below Shelby’s. Here are the details of prices and options.
Mach 1 is only available as a fastback – no top-down convertible cruising with this model. (Ford and Dodge do not offer convertible versions of the most powerful models.) Mach 1 comes in two trims; The base car starts at $ 52720. It gives you goodies like the Recaro sports seats, a dashboard-mounted chassis number plate and the handling package, which comes with adjustable strut mounts, a decklid spoiler and 19-inch wheels.
Mach 1 Premium is the next step up. It starts at $ 54,315. The extra $ 1,595 gives you things like heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel.
There are seven exterior colors: Racing Red, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Iconic Silver, Grabber Yellow, Oxford White and Shadow Black. Four stripe options round out exterior paint: two tapes and two racing. Twister Orange is the only color that costs extra, for $ 495. Each stripe is available with all exterior colors. Unfortunately, if you do not care what the strips look like, they can not be removed.
Mach 1 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 that puts out 480 horses. You can choose either a standard six-step manual with rev-matching or an optional $ 1,595 10-step automatic. There are not many options to choose from, as this thing comes loaded. Mach 1 includes the performance package together with the active exhaust and MagnaRide damping system. You can choose $ 394 19-inch wheels and $ 495 red brake calipers. It rounds out the exterior options.
Inside, it’s the same story. It’s loaded, with the only interior options like a $ 595 hub system I want to skip and the great $ 1,595 Recaro sports seats. Keep in mind, however, that if you select these, you will lose power adjustment. All in all, a fully loaded Mach 1 with all possibilities (10-speed auto, $ 495 Orange Paint, etc.) for a total of $ 59,085. This is just the base car, remember. I would save myself $ 4280 and not get any options.
Mach 1 Premium is more or less the same with a few important alternative differences that set it apart. For one, Premium gets one more color choice, Fighter Jet Gray. It is a kind of light blue gray that is popular on so many models now. This color is part of a larger $ 1,000 Mach 1 look package that must be selected if this color is selected. Premium also gets an extra stripe option with black with orange accents. It’s a $ 395 “enhanced safety package” that Ford pretty much charges $ 400 for wheel locks. Then there is the $ 1,295 Mach 1 Elite package. It gives you a B&O sound system with 12 speakers with CD player (!) And includes the aforementioned security package.
The differences in Premium come down to optional $ 1,595 Recaro leather seats and an ambient lighting system that requires Recaros. Please note, however, that you can not get seat heating and cooling with Recaros. All in all, you pretty much see $ 63,000 for a Mach 1.
There are a lot of coins for what makes up a terted-up GT. If the Shelby GT350 was still around, it would be the better buy. It started at $ 60,440. But if you’re looking for a pony car that’s more than a GT, but not as crazy as a Shelby, Mach 1 is it.
