For players who want to test their Smash abilities against some of the best players in the world, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ones covered.
So-called "Elite Battles" are part of a unique online matchmaking system that players can unlock after reaching a certain amount of GSP or Global Smash Power.
GSP base players rank on the number of people they have exceeded, rather than the number of people better than them.
The amount of GSP needed to unlock Elite battles started at around 400,000 when Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was the first release, but players will now need more than 2 million GSPs to reach these top games.
With the number of people buying and playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, especially after Christmas, the number of GSPs needed to access Elite games can continue to rise.
When unlocked, players who reach the level of other players with similar skills can hopefully save on eastern a few newer or less skilled players.
This system will also give Nintendo an easy way to see who the biggest competing players in Ultimate are for any esports events or competitions in the future.
For players who want to prove themselves in Smash and really test their mettle, unlocking Elite Smash Battles is a great goal to work for.
