Capcom has released a new character for Street Fighter 5 – and he's really Evil Ryu.
He is not called Evil Ryu, though. His name is Kage (pronounced car-gay), "The Embodiment of the Satsui." Think Ryu with red eyes, fangs and a pair of cute little horns.
According to Street Fighter lore (yes, Street Fighter has a lore), Ryu continuously fights to control Satsui no Hado. Following the events of Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, Ryu Satsui takes over Hado's temptation and prevents Evil Ryu from seeing the light of day.
This is where Cake comes in. Satsui no Hado who lives in Ryu became sentient, apparently, and has risen as a cake, meaning shadow in Japanese. "Kage lives to prove that Ryu is nothing without him, and seeks to challenge Akuma and Sagat, two of Ryu's most notorious rivals," Capcom said.
The cage relay is much like Evil Ryu from Street Fighter 4 (he has the cool ax kick), but there are some differences. His hill Hadokan does not create a traditional fireball, his air Hadokans flies horizontally in the air, and his hurricane park only rotates once and only supplies a single kick.
His V-Trigger I is a teleportflytt (this can also be used in the air as an airdash for flashy combinations). His V-Trigger II is an attack that is good for holding up the pressure and for interrupting blocked sweeps.
Kage's critical art is Ryu's chin-crushing super from former Street fighters with a Kill Bill twist. He also has a raging demon attack, but he can only do this while in V-Trigger II.
