Sony Japan Studios’ ongoing restructuring has led to a mass migration of developers behind key PlayStation titles such as Demon’s Souls on PS5, Gravity Rush, Bloodborne, The Last Guardian, and more. In February, Sony confirmed that PlayStations Japan Studio will be reorganized around Team ASOBI, the development unit behind Astro’s playroom. First-party development elsewhere in the studio is likely to cease or be diminished, and other departments such as localization, remote production and IP administration will move to PlayStation Studios.
Since this news, several key members of Japan Studio have announced that they are leaving the company. Demons Soul’s PS5 director Gavin Moore announced today that he is leaving Sony after 24 years with the company.
