Sony Interactive Entertainment has begun restructuring its management with several new key agreements. When SIE Vice President John Kodera took on a new role focusing on digital transformation within Sony, changes have also been made in engineering management.
Hideaki Nishino, who has been credited with several PS4 and PS5 innovations and has written the blog posts for Sony’s upcoming PSVR 2 hardware, has been promoted to SVP with platform experience and will oversee network engineering and operations, research and development, design, data strategy, and operations as well as manage product and platform development. Nishino will be joined by the current VP of Global Third Party Relations Michael Pattison, who will report to him as SVP for platform planning and management.
SIE Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Kazuhiko Takeda retires in June 2021
On the board of SIE Tokyo, Ryan is joined by Masayasu Ito, who has been appointed Deputy Director and Vice President. Lin Tao has become director and vice president, and SIE vice president Takeshi Shibata will serve as chairman.
Sony has seen a number of recent departures from Ape Escape, Knack and Gravity Rush developer Japan Studio, since the company did not renew the contracts of a “large majority” of developers for the next fiscal year beginning April 1. to the left of Japan Studio will be absorbed into Astro Bot developer Team ASOBI and will exist in Sony Japan as a standalone studio.
