Following the launch of the new Chromecast last year, Google TV sees its first expansion. Sony Bravia TV is now available in the US with Google TV on board.
Sony has been using the Android TV platform since 2015 on its advanced Bravia series, on both LED and OLED models. At CES earlier this year, the company was the first to announce its intention to use the newer Google TV user interface, and now it is the first TV manufacturer to launch with it.
The Bravia X80J and Bravia XR A90J series are now available at Best Buy, and cost from $ 949. At the lower end of the spectrum, you get LED panels in 55- or 65-inch sizes, both with Google TV out of the box. Alternatively, the Bravia XR A90J series is available in the same sizes, but with OLED technology for more contrast. However, these TVs are more expensive, starting at $ 2,999.
These 4K TVs support HDR1
Bravia XR A90J is adjacent to OLED, hence the price increase, and also goes to 120Hz. Two of the four HDMI ports are also capable of HDMI 2.1, good news for PS5 owners.
As far as we know, these new TVs have only been on sale for about a week, but they should be available at Best Buy sites throughout the next week or two. Online orders will be displayed with deliveries as soon as Thursday 1 April.
