Smartphones in 2018: This year's biggest winners and losers

Good phones are falling all the time, but when I look back at 2018's biggest hits, it is clear that this year brought us something special. Paired of top models from tried and true hitmakers Apple, Samsung and Google include iPhone XR Galaxy S9 and Pixel 3.

These beads went beyond premium phones into medium and budget units, and and into innovations from globally lesser-known brands such as Oppo and Vivo. Niche people tried to do something different, too, an effort we can all appreciate.
