Although Samsung has demoed a working prototype of its long-awaited folding Galaxy F (also known as Galaxy Fold), it was revealed that the company could only make a million devices of the phone to measure the response. CIMB estimates folding smartphones to gain market share of 9.2 percent by 2020
According to CIMB, 4 million folding smartphones will be shipped globally next year and the figure will increase to 39 million units by 2022. With regard to market share, folding smartphones go from counting 1.3 percent of phones in 2019 to 9.2 percent by 2020.

The group believes that Samsung Galaxy F can be launched next to the Galaxy S10 in February 2019. If that does not happen, the device will be revealed shortly thereafter. The phone is expected to come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory.
The report also says that in the future we can see folding smartphones with a 7 "screen that can expand to a 12-inch screen when three separate screens are employed. Samsung is expected to lead the folding display market by 2020, and LG will not be able to pick up anytime soon. Apart from Samsung, Huawei and LG are expected to release folding smartphones in the first half of 2019, followed by Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO and Motorola in the second half of 2019. Microsoft and Apple are expected to release their collapsible devices by 2020.
