The One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is now rolling out again to select variants of this budget flagship. As a reminder, Samsung retrieved the original update from the distribution queue at this point last week. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G was actually the first smartphone to start switching to the latest version of Samsung’s internal operating system based on Android 11.
Although this incident was too good to be true in the end, this revision is still very early for the One UI 3.1 party. It may even have been also early last.
Why did Samsung download the original Galaxy S20 FE update in the first place?
One UI 3.1 OTA has been designated as a release version G781BXXU2CUB5. The main implication of this label is that the original firmware was not pulled due to technical issues ̵
As the mentioned build number suggests, this OTA is especially aimed at the 5G-ready version of the Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G781B). The LTE-only counterpart (SM-G780F) is also expected to follow shortly. And anyone who lacks patience for this release is also welcome to stay updated on our firmware archives. As things stand right now, this second distribution from Central Europe is coming out. The Galaxy S20 series and most other modern flagships from Samsung have received the same update since yesterday.
