Backers and fans look forward to Bloodstained: The Rituals of the Night must wait a little longer for the kick-start Metroidvania title, while those who pre-ordered the PlayStation Vita version need to look at a new platform to experience the game at all.
In an update to the game's official Kickstarter, former lead producer of Castlevania series and the designer of Blood Stained Koji Igarashi announced that the game had been delayed from the 2018 release window to 2019 to better respond to input from the game's beta-back demo. In addition, the game will no longer be released on PlayStation Vita due to system interruptions. Those who supported the game with a view to receiving a Vita version will be able to change their planned platform or get full refund.
"We apologize for inconvenience or disappointment, but be sure we work harder than ever to deliver the game we all made happen together, please carry us a little longer and I thank you for your continued support, "wrote Igarashi.
Roberto Piraino, global brand manager for game publisher 505 Games, insured backers extra time would be used to polish the game as much as possible and that the decision to cancel the Vita version did not come easy.
"Being a big PlayStation & Sony fan myself, I also know whether to cancel the White version of the game can be disappointing to some of you, but with Sony's plans to cancel the console and physical game production, remove Vita titles from PS + setup etc., it was an unfortunate but necessary decision to make, "wrote piraino. "We really hope you will continue to support us on one of the other platforms available."
Originally funded by Kickstarter in 201
Bloodstained is currently slated for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
