Anyone wishing to be among the first to deliver Audi's upcoming e-throne electric SUV can configure and reserve a starting September 17th. The date is when Audi presents a complete car for the first time, with the debut confirmed by Audi on Thursday to be in San Francisco.
The debut was previously confirmed for the Audi summit in Brussels, Belgium, 30 August, but was pushed back after Juni's arrest by Audi CEO Rupert Stadler of German authorities as part of his investigation of the diesel scandal. Stadler, although not charged, stays behind the bars and there are rumors that he can be replaced.
When ordering a five-seater e-throne, it will be necessary for interested buyers to pay a $ 1000 refundable reservation fee. This will then unlock a digital space where the buyer will be able to follow the progress of the order online and at their local dealer. Such a purchase process, popular with Tesla with Model 3, is part of a changed future at Audi that the brand will provide details on the e-throne debut.
Electrification and digital tools are expected to play an important role in this changing future. And to support buyers of their electric cars, e-throne is just one of a handful of Audi plans to uncover new uploading solutions, charging stations and support capabilities of 303 retailers across the country.

The first buyers will receive their e-mail in early 2019. Audi is yet to confirm specifications, but has suggested a range of at least 250 miles. A fast-charging system with 150 kilowatts will provide 80 percent charge of approx. 30 minutes.
In the original e-throne quattro concept (shown above) unveiled in 2015 to preview e-throne, a single electric motor was on the front axle and two motors were mounted on the rear. Top output was around 430 horsepower, although an energy management mode was able to lift this to 496 hp immediately. The battery was a 95-kilowatt lithium-ion device.
Audi will introduce two electric cars until 2020. One would be a more coupe-like version of e-throne and the other is expected to be an electric compact car, possibly based on the A3. A high performance e-tron GT sedan and two small SUVs are expected to follow early next decade.
