Qualcomm plans to bring super fast 5G connectivity to the consumer's smartphone next year.
The chip maker said Wednesday that the upcoming 5G platform will have a system-on-a-chip built on the 7-nanometer mode process. When paired with the company's Snapdragon X50, it will enable which Qualcomm calls the first 5G mobile mobile phone platform.
Qualcomm said it has already started sharing the upcoming platform with multiple handhelds for inclusion in their next-generation devices.

Qualcomm said it would share more details about the new platform in the fourth quarter.
Announcement marks a new step towards actual deployment of the next generation Wireless technology promises increased speed, superior response and better coverage. 5G is seen as basic technology for other areas like self-propelled cars and streaming virtual reality, starting with these early distributions.
Last year, Qualcomm 5G pushed the reality withand QPM56xx sub-6GHz radio frequency antenna module fa milies. The chips are small enough to fit into handheld devices, while telephones cover the range of 5G airwaves, including shorter range, but faster millimeter wave spectrum and the more reliable, but slower sub-6GHz airwaves.
AT & T has already identifiedwhere it expects to distribute its super speed network this year. Verizon is also planning to launch limited mobile 5G service this year, while T-Mobile and Sprint are setting up things now for a commercial launch early next year.
Handset and chipmakers are working to get devices ready for 2019.
