PSA: Apple’s new MagSafe battery pack can also be used to charge AirPods wirelessly

Earlier today, the first real photos of the MagSafe battery pack appeared, showing a closer look at the fit, finish and size of the new accessory. Now a picture has appeared showing that the MagSafe battery pack can be used as a Qi charger for all accessories, including AirPods.

As we detailed this morning, Steven Russell was able to pick up the MagSafe battery pack at his local Apple Store in Memphis, Tennessee, this weekend. Russell posted a handful of photos of the new accessory on Reddit and Twitter, and now he has shared a new photo showing the MagSafe battery pack with successfully charging the AirPods Pro.

Apple suggested that this was possible on the MagSafe battery pack product page, saying, “At the desktop and need a charge? Just connect a zipper cable to the MagSafe battery pack for up to 1

5 W of wireless charging.” Russell’s photo confirms that it also works on the go , and turns the MagSafe battery pack into a portable, battery-powered Qi charger.

The first MagSafe battery packs are scheduled to arrive later this week, and that’s also when we expect it to officially hit Apple Stores. In the meantime, let us know what you think of the early photos below in the comments below!
