Pokmon Unite launches for Nintendo Switch next week • Eurogamer.net

With mythical creature Zeraora as an early sign-up bonus.

Pokémon Unite, Tencent’s free-to-play Pokémon MOBA, arrives on Nintendo Switch next week on July 21st.

Download the game and log in anytime before August 31st, and you will also have access to Mythical Pokémon Zeraora.

As previously announced, the mobile version of Pokémon Units will be released sometime in September (and it will be a way for mobile gamers to get Zeraora even then).

Pokémon Unite was developed by Tencent̵

7;s TiMi Studios, which is also responsible for Activision’s Call of Duty Mobile, and has been available in closed beta in recent months.

Originally announced last summer, Pokémon Unite pits two troops of five players against each other, battling it in an arena with checkpoints to secure. When a game is played, Pokémon are able to level up and unlock new moves as they do so.

Unite makes money on a seasonal matchmaking system, as well as a premium currency called Aeos gems. You use gems (or Aeos coins earned through games) to obtain licenses to take Pokémon into battle, as well as obtain held items and fashionable cosmetics that Pokémon can use.
