PlayStation 4 Pro CUH-7200 sneaks into some shops

Unlike the fast sales in the smartphone market and sometimes even in the PC market, the consoles are often played to last, changing substantially only after 3 maybe even 6 years. And unless the changes are significant, new SKUs are rolled out without any fuss or fanfare, much less an announcement. This is definitely the case with the new PS4 Pro, model number CUH-7200, whose existence was almost unnoticed. And it's almost the perfect entrance to an audit that might be the coolest PS4 Pro yet.

PlayStation 4 Pro can not grab your attention with the look, but it definitely makes it present with the sound. There has already been a revision of the launch model (CUH-7000 and CUH-7100), and both have been described to have a "jet engine" fan. The PS4 Pro can be powerful, but it has not been so high about it.

With the CUH-7200 revision, the PS4 Pro was measured to have reduced noise output from at least 50 decibels to the launch model (47dB for CUH-71

00) to only 44 decibels. Even the higher, the newer model is only as high as 48 dB, which is softer than the softest noise that the older models make. That said, Sony may have achieved it by sacrificing thermal reduction, which means that the PS4 Pro CUH-7200 can run warmer than older models.

You will not be able to tell CUH-7200 apart from the others, just by looking at it. Not unless you actually look at the label or, better yet, check your back. The most visible greeting that this is another PS4 Pro is that it now uses the same "Figure 8" power plug as PS4 Slim and Microsoft's Xbox One.

In other words, be very picky and careful when buying a new PS4 Pro to make sure it's the coolest model. So far, it has just been seen in the wild bundled with Red Dead Redemption. The PS4 Pro CUH-7200 can very well make it the usual store shelves when retailers run out of stock of the older, more boisterian models.
