The latest version of the Pixel Buds app for Android adds a home screen widget that Pixel owners may find particularly useful.
On all Android phones that are not a Pixel, the Pixel Buds app is a proper app in the drawer, just like the associated apps that are available for many other headphones. With it you can check firmware updates, adjust assistant settings and more.
On Pixel phones, however, all of these features are integrated into the Settings app. Instead of opening the Pixel Buds app in the tray, open Settings, then “Connected Devices” and tap the gear icon next to Pixel Buds. For some Pixel owners, this is more of a disadvantage than a useful integration.

Alternatively, you can manually open the Pixel Buds settings and open the “More settings” page. In this rear corner of the Pixel Buds settings you will find an alternative to “Add widget to home screen.” By going this route you can name the widget manually, which is useful considering that the default name is too far for the Pixel Launcher to allow.
As you might expect, tapping directly on the Pixel Buds settings by tapping the new widget, which will help make the settings easier and faster available to them on Pixel phones. Having the shortcut to your personal set of Pixel Buds is just the icing on the cake.
This latest widget may well be part of Google’s current renaissance for Android home screen widgets, which has introduced new offerings from Google Photos, Chrome and soon Google Keep Notes.
